I am one of the most well known and well-loved animals that exist, as I am also known as the “King of the Jungle”.
But I don’t live in jungles, mostly in the savannahs and grassland areas of Saharan Africa.
My kind and I live in big groups called prides which are made up of varied related females and their dependent offsprings along with two or three unrelated males. Normally there are 15 members in a pride but sometimes we can have more in our prides.
Despite me sleeping up to 20 hours a day, I am most associated with pride, courage, and strength. Because of this, many countries have used me as a national symbol, countries such as Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, England, Ethiopia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Singapore.
