Hi! I am a giraffe and I am the tallest mammal in the world. When I was a newborn, my height was around 5.6–6.6 ft tall! I come from Africa and my kind and I mostly live in savannahs, grasslands, and open woodlands.
I am a herbivore and my long neck helps me to eat the leaves from tall trees. We have long tongues, around 20 to 21 inches long, and no teeth at the front of our top jaw. This helps us rip leaves from branches.
All of us are unique as we each have distinct spotted coats. This means that no two giraffes have the exact same pattern.
Did you know though that in one day, we only need 5 to 30 minutes of sleep and we usually do it standing? Isn’t that amazing?
