THE finalists of Miss Cebu 2022 are giving Cebuanos more reasons to love Cebu, as they take us to more places to explore and love in the city and in the province.
The candidates Bianca Wilhelmina Willemsen, Christine Isabelle Rudolph, Karla Marie Frances Niere, Dannika Anne Ocampo, Cianza Pearl Lorenzo Gutierres, Christine Marie Aberion, Ciairha Jenyne Monsanto, Gabriella Mai Carballo, Trixie Ong, and Lorraine Hann recently visited two tourism spots of the north – Cebu Safari & Adventure Park and El Mar Resort.
“I can’t help but be emotional seeing how well the animals were being treated. I remember my first and second visit back in 2017 and 2019, when Fred and Lola, the giraffes, were still young, the person taking care of them back then is still the same caretaker now, Sir Marny. I had the chance to engage in a small talk with him, and I felt the love and passion he had for his job; and through his eyes, I saw the deep connection he had established with Fred, Lola and now, their baby too. People like Sir Marny give me so much hope in humanity—the very reason I keep holding on to the dream where every single individual could find in their hearts the same love and compassion for humans and animals alike, because after all, we’re all one in the circle of life,” said Dannika Anne Ocampo, whose advocacy includes animal welfare, environmental conservation, and mental health awareness.
“I will never get tired of visiting Cebu Safari. It’s establishments like them that make Cebu world-class, allowing our children to have bigger dreams by having access to opportunities and innovations. I can’t wait to be back for more adventures, learnings and discoveries!” Ocampo added.
Cebu Safari & Adventure Park is the premier Safari park in the country located in Northern Cebu. It serves as a sanctuary for hundreds of different species of plants and animals. The Park’s main features for now are the African Savanna, Michelle’s Garden, and the White Lion Safari. The Park also caters to adventure seekers with its very own Adventure Park, which features one of the longest and highest Ziplines in the country at 1.3 kms. long and 671 m. above sea level.
Trixie Ong, 24, whose advocacy is rebuilding of tourism, said Miss Cebu gave them the opportunity to take a break from the fast-paced life in the City, to escape and breathe in the air of new places, and to wander and discover the gems of Cebu and to replenish our souls.
“Hugs to everyone who is not feeling good about their day and reminding you to learn the importance of breathing and know that good things will happen. Thank you, El Mar Resort & Cebu Safari & Adventure Park, the best places to be,” Ong added.
El Mar Resort is a luxury resort blissfully located in a hidden enclave of 17 coves in Sogod, Cebu. Offering a back-to-nature experience in supreme comfort and privacy, this tropical paradise is lapped by calm clear seas ideal for water sports, whilst sandy tracks lead to deserted coves and jungle-clad lookouts.
The Cebu City Government through Cebu City Tourism Commission, Cebu City Tourism Foundation Inc., and Miss Cebu Charities introduced 12 beauties vying for the crown in the 2022 edition of the prestigious pageant.
The 2022 edition of Miss Cebu is considered historic because it is returning during the pandemic and after its six-year hiatus. The hopefuls were also joined by Project Chairperson and Cebu City Tourism Commissioner Philip Rodriguez and Cebu City Tourism Commissioner Cinbeth Orellano.
Miss Cebu 2022 Coronation Night will be on January 12, 2022, 6 p.m., Wednesday, at Il Corso Filinvest Lifestyle Malls, South Road Properties, Cebu City. (PR)
