Philippine Crocodile

Crocodylus mindorensis

I am a freshwater crocodile and in the Philippines, I have different names depending on where you are in the country. In northern Luzon, I am the bukarot while in general, I am known as the buwaya. I am also known as the Mindoro crocodile.

I like to rest in the sun during sunny days to warm up and keep my body in good shape but if it gets too hot, I simply just have to open my mouth to release the heat that is trapped in my body.

A fun fact you should know is that I swallow or ingest stones so I can control my buoyancy. It may seem strange but this is how I survive.
