Eclectus Parrot

The playful bird

You can easily recognize if these playful parrots are male or female with their colors. Male eclectus parrots are primarily green with orange beaks and females are mostly red with black beaks.

They are native to the Solomon Islands, Indonesia, New Guinea, northeastern Australia and the Moluccas.

During the quarantine, two eggs that we removed from the nestbox, as the mother can only survive one chick if parent-raised, were artificially incubated.

Both chicks have hatched and are successfully hand-raised in BRC.
