These flightless birds are the largest of all South American birds. If you thought it looks like an ostrich, well it is because they are related.

Greater Rhea has large wings but they are not for flying but for balance as they change directions when running. They use their long, powerful legs to outrun everything they think is trouble.

Greater Rhea eggs in the Park are usually abandoned. The eggs are collected in BRC and we now have 11 successful hatchlings through artificial incubation.
