Did you know that the scarlet macaw is the national bird of Honduras?

In 2018, a female scarlet macaw was paired to a male scarlet macaw from the bird show. On April 15, 2020, during the pandemic, our breeding pair produced their first clutch.

Eggs were artificially incubated to improve the success rate of hatching, and chicks were hand-raised by keepers and fed every two hours at the BRC.
