The tiny birds with big mouth

Playful, intelligent, bold in appearance, lively and loud – these are some of the characteristics of Aratinga solstitialis or Sun Conure.

Did you know that young sun conures are primarily green? These little birds with big mouths only evolve into its orange coloring as they mature.

The sun conure is native to South America, specifically Venezuela, Northern Brazil and Guyana.

They are classified as endangered under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

These colorful parrots face threats such as habitat loss and illegal pet trade.

While Cebu Safari & Adventure Park was closed during the quarantine, we have successfully bred 15 chicks from two breeding sun conure pairs in BRC.
